Company Profile
R8click, Inc was founded in July 2009. R8click is a web security company that focuses on User Logins. Our motto is to eliminate Username-Password system from the internet and make online identity easy and secure. Our main clients are consumer websites that have a user login page, E-commerce companies that use logins for online transactions, banks that facilitate online banking products to their customers.
My Role
I am basically a concept guy. My imagination knows no bounds. As a founder I have taken the company from an idea to making it a Silicon Valley startup. Since the inception I have been involved in creating a product that solves a real customer need. Looking into everyday operations, pitching to investors and recruiting a great team to build our product is my main job at the company. >From time to time I actively participate in marketing and advertising. Networking with CEOs and leaders of other companies and building competitive strategies is something that I do whenever possible. You can also say I am a one man army.
Relationship with potential investors
Investors are always on the look for companies that make money. Revenue generating companies get funded sooner. Although we have been in the process of solving one of the biggest problems on the internet- Online Identity, we haven’t had much luck with investors. We have talked to big names in the VC industry and some angel investors but in vain. We have been bootstrapping and hope to get funded soon.
About culture as the company has grown
Our team is spread across the globe. We have developers and security experts telecommuting from different parts of the world. We usually converse through email and video conferences. This has kept our burn rate low. Our culture as of now is a happy culture, meaning, everyone likes what they do. I like Zappos culture and I would someday want that at my company.
Difficulties faced
I have faced problem getting the right people for the job. It is difficult to hire good talent when you don’t have money to invest into human capital. Getting noticed and traction has been our other major problem. We have persevered and are confident that one day we will make it BIG. The problem that we are solving will get us recognition soon. Security is the need of the hour in the midst of hacks like that of Linkedin and eHarmony. We are working on biometrics and touch has become all-pervasive. Our Palm-print technology and Face-recognition concepts will soon fetch good leads.
Advice to young entrepreneurs
Never ever give up. It may take time for your idea to come to life but it is you who has to make it happen. Starting a company takes a lot of courage and keeping it going takes much more than courage; it is a dream that just you can see come true when the whole world says it won’t work.
Bootstrap and keep your burn rate as low as possible. Save money wherever you can. Look for deals that get your job done without investing money. Keep your day job while you grow your startup inch by inch.
Key thoughts about Entrepreneurship
I want this article to show that we have been persistent in making this company become the Next Big Thing without having investors on board. This is a story that every entrepreneur has to know for them to invest more time and effort rather than money. I want VCs/ Angel investors to understand that a startup has lot of challenges other than forming a great team. I want this article to focus on Security and Online Identity and how we are trying to solve this problem. The objective of this article should be to get more traction to the website and also investor interest.
